Rimmel Vinyl Glosses

Now, I don't know about you, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in the higher end stuff that I forget about some of the drugstore cosmetic items I have on hand. Now, this is a terribly silly thing, and as such, I thought I'd share one of my favourite drug store selections with you: Rimmel Vinyl lipglosses.

Follow up:

First off, these are cheap as dirt. Last time I picked some up, they were on sale for $3 Canadian! Regular price being all of $6. For comparison, I believe MAC are $16.50 and smashbox are $22. Quite the difference, hey? I love saving money, dudes - it means I can get/do more things for/with the little bit I have.

These are nonsticky - something that is a huge factor in lipgloss for me. I mean, I'll wear sticky lipglosses, but chances are I'll love it a whole lot more if the stick factor is minimal. What can I say? I like being able to walk around without fear of things randomly sticking to my lips.

There isn't a huge shade selection, but what they have are pretty. Some examples? No problem!:

I find these surprisingly pigmented for such an inexpensive gloss. As is to be expected, some shades are sheerer than others, but that's ok by me. The Vinyl Stars are the more glittery shades while the Vinyl Lip or Vinyl Gloss are less glittery. Imagine that! ;) I don't find these to have an offputting scent nor flavour; if they have either, they're subtle enough that I don't really remember them. Oops! Some lipglosses out there dry out my lips, but fortunately these aren't one of those varieties.

Probably my biggest issue with these is that the shade name is printed on the sticker with the bar code that you will find stuck to the cap. It's terribly impractical, as I find the name rubs off pretty quickly and you're left nameless. Notice how I didn't name the swatches for you? That wasn't forgetfulness! Sorry dudes. :(

However, being nonsticky and inexpensive certainly helps to battle the poorly placed shade name. Add that to the fact that these are delightfully shiny and last on my lips for a decent amount of time, and all is forgiven! Next time these are on sale, I hope there will be some tubes of clear on hand so I can grab those and use pigments to custom mix a few glosses. Mmmm, custom.

In short? If you're looking for an inexpensive way to add some shine to your lips, these could be worth checking out. I've been using them for years and still like them.
