Black Dazzleglass? You Know It!![]() Now, when the dazzleglasses first came out, I was immediately crying about how damn expensive they were. Glittery lipgloss for how much!? I figured I could just mix up some glitter and gloss on my own, thankyouverymuch. More people caught on to that after a while, and now prices have risen (and for what? To pay for the big air bubble they now come with?), leaving me all the more firmly against purchasing these suckers (I've only a few, and I bought them all waaaay below retail). So, here I am today to make a super snazzy one - black! As you probably know, dazzleglasses are hard to photograph, but I tried, damn it! Follow up: I mixed in a little sample jar a bunch of MAC's clear lipglass (I chose to use this instead of a cheaper clear gloss because it's so thick and shiny), some black lipmix, and reflects glitters in transparent teal and purple duo. One of the nice things about mixing your own dazzleglass is that you can control how dazzley it is - want more glitter? Do it up! Want less? Be more conservative on the glitz when you're mixing things. This first picture is of my lovely concoction on bare lips. Sorry these lip swatches are a bit sloppy. ![]() See? Sheer and not too scary! Being black, though, it certainly gives a certain deathly cast to bare lips. Next up, I layered it over MUFE's lipstick 205 - a bright cream finish blue-red. If you want a MAC reference, think Russian Red but more vibrant. ![]() I wish the picture could convey a teensy bit of just how hot this is. It deepens the shade, adds incredible shine and the blue-toned glitters glimmer spectacularly against the red. Do I recommend doing this? That would be a resounding HELL YES. I mean, what better way to satisfy a craving for a specific shade of dazzleglass that you just can't help but wish for? And don't forget: if you don't have lipmixes, you can always use pigments instead! If you opt for one that's not officially lip-safe, do so at your own discretion. I hope this in some way handy for someone! |
