bath salt

Even though it's hot where I live right now, my life wouldn't be complete without a nice bath every once in a while. And to make it extra speical I add some of my home made bath salts. Bath salts have been around for a long time and many believe that's because salt contains minerals, and minerals help cleanse and remove toxins from the body and help improve circulation. It also helps soften skin by removing dead skin cells. If you add essential oils to your bath salts you get the luxuary of aromatherapy which helps to relax you, or invigorate you through the many different scents. It's also said to help people with skin disorders gain temporary relief. Even if you don't believe in the healing powers of bath salts you can enjoy a nice luxurious bath fit for a queen or a king.

Bath salts start off with salt, you can use many different kinds such as epsom salt, kosher salt or sea salt. Or mix them all together to get different textures.

Recipe for bath salt

-2 cups Epsom salts (or whatever salt you want)
-1 teaspoon glycerin (stops clumping)
-2-3 drops scented oil as desired (make it smell nice)
-2-3 drops food coloring as desired (gives it some color)

Bath salts need to mixed in a plastic container that can be discarded or in a large, resealable plastic bag. Combine all ingredients together until well mixed. The worst problem in mixing your own bath salts is clumping can occur. Also when adding your bath salts to jars make sure they are dry, wash them atleast 6-7 hours beforehand and dry them well. After adding the mixture to your jars make sure it's kept tightly capped.

Standard size bathtubs require about 1/3 cup of salts per bath, add more if your tub is huge. (I wish my tub was huge)
