Oldschool MAC - Iron and Lola Eye ShadowsI must profess a weakness: I think the oldschool MAC screwtops are super adorable. Plus, I tend to be wickedly curious about the really old, discontinued shadows from times long past (for makeup, anyway!). As such, when I recently stumbled across some pots of "Lola" and "Iron" for sale, I could hardly resist! When I noted that the prices were more than reasonable, the inner bargain hunter conceded and allowed the purchase. ![]() In case you couldn't guess, Iron is on the left, dudes, and Lola is on the right. Follow up: I am pretty wildly in love with Iron, as I find it to be the perfect shimmering silver mid-tone grey - smooth, not too frosty and it doesn't pull blue! HELLO! Now, as you can see from the labels, these suckers don't come with a lot of info, but I'd be willing to bet Iron is a frost. ![]() Lola doesn't seem like a spectacular colour, but don't be too quick to knock her! She's pretty, as a pinky peachy beige good for every-day and countless combos. She goes on super smoothly and with good pigmentation, as many frost-free shadows from MAC fail to do. Both of these adhere well to my skin and have good lasting power. Fun fact: I can also blend Iron out to a pale silver when used with Bare Canvas and Haunting, as I did today! ![]() Now, I realise your odds of stumbling across these are extremely slim, but I thought I'd share them regardless. I'd heard of them before, but precious little, and I certainly had never seen swatches! The really old offerings from MAC fascinate me, and I know I'm not alone; this one's for the hardcore junkies, dude! What do you think? Pretty, yes, no? Dupable colours certainly. If you could choose, though, would you rather these old ones or newer incarnations of the same sort of shades? |
