Lilac Lipstick: The Key to Looking Asphyxiated

Yes, I am addicted to purple makeup. There is a shade to make essentially every eye colour pop, and it also works nicely with my cool skin and the red in my hair. Plus, it's just hella pretty! :D

Curiousity got the best of me when I was looking at Star Gazer lipsticks the other day (and all the unusual shades available!), so I decided to order one to try out. I picked the shade 115, a creamy lilac, for my test run purposes, as I figured it's not quite the ordinary, but it's also something I'd actually wear.

Little did I realise quite how blue this sucker is!

Follow up:

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the colour, but it's a bit cool toned even for me to wear it straight up. Also, that packaging? Not what I'd call aesthetically pleasing! The texture, however, is worth writing about.

I found this lipstick to apply smoothly without drag; it's creamy, and glides on opaque. Definitely something I love in a lipstick! Furthermore, I wore it around home all afternoon, and it didn't dry my lips out (hallelujah!). I hung out, chatting and drinking water and whatnot, and it wore respectably. Yes, I had some fading (and a purple rim to my drinking glass!), but it still gave me basically full colour to my lips.

Damn, son! I need to do some work on my lip-swatching skills.

All in all, I find myself overall quite pleased with this lipstick formula and the general experiment. At a scant £3 a pop (I got mine from ebay), these are very affordable. It seems to wear just fine under gloss, too (read: it doesn't break down and die), so I can certainly see myself picking up more of these in the future! I think I need to see if they have green...

Tish, I'm wondering who COULD pull this shade off solo!
