Purplepalooza Swatches Part 1!

Let's start with swatches of this bad boy, shall we? One of my absolute favourite palettes in my collection!

Follow up:

Beautiful Iris, Crystal, Digit

I think these are all still part of the permanent line? Love the bit of duochrome to Beautiful Iris, and the grey tones to Crystal make it fun to play with. Digit is trickier, and I like to build it up to get good payoff.

Parfait Amour, Little Minx, Dovefeather

I love the colour of Parfait Amour, but I wish the payoff was a bit more intense. Hmm. Little Minx is so pretty and smooth and delicious! And, oh man, Dovefeather? Being veluxe, it's hella creamy and amazing. It can pull more grey or more pinkish-toned depending on what it's paired with. Absolutely lovely, and one of my favourites.

Mystical Mist, Indian Ink, Poison Pen

Dudes, I'm so sorry you can't see this here, but Mystical Mist has the most gorgeous blue sheen to it. It blends out so well and, though it's a frost, you'd think it was a veluxe pearl. Indian Ink is a (pro) super smooth perfect purple matte. It's what pops into my head when I think "purple". Poison Pen looks so unassuming, but goes well with so much! Matte2, an amazing crease colour, and lovely too for a more tamed pop of colour (for work, yes?). Mmmm.

Thunder, Top Hat, Au Contraire

Ok, I realise these come out looking a lot alike here. They blend out differently though, damn it! Thunder has not a blue sheen, but just... is blue-purple. It's unusual. Not the easiest to work with, but beautiful. Top Hat is much more blackened in its base than the similar blue-purples I have here. I feel ambivalent toward it. Ever seen Royal Hue shadestick? Make that a shadow. That's Au Contraire.

Urban Decay Asphyxia, Graphology, Blu-Noir

Urban Decay Asphyxia is a delightful blue-lilac duochrome. Nom nom nom. Graphology is a very dark purple matte2 that is amazing for smoky eyes. Going for the sooty smoky purple look? This is pretty much a necessity! Now, that brings us to Blu-Noir. You're probably thinking, "This is blue. Not purple. Even the name indicates it is blue-black. Are you stupid?" Another veluxe (<3!!), this actually shows purple on my skin to the naked eye. I've never seen it show up so blue as it does here. It may be in part because I'm so pink? Anyhow, it's purple on me, so it's with my purples. :D

And that, my friends, is purple palette number one swatched. Any questions or comments? I'd love to hear them!

Those are some lovely purplies. I do love Graphology... it was one of my first matte2 shadows.

Lovely swatches :) I love me some purples. I don't have as many as you but out of the ones I have Graphology, Poison Pen and Illegal Cargo are my faves

Karin, Graphology is one of my go-to shades to add depth to things. Sometimes one doesn't want black, so... purple! :D I wish there were more matte2. <3

Shadowy Lady/Sandwich, thanks! I absolutely adore all three of those, too. And hey, most people don't have this many purples - it's just plain crazy. ;)

Some questions: 1) How do you usually wear Parfait Amour? This was one of the first MAC shadows I ever bought but now I've kind of forgot about it and need some inspiration. 2) how unique is Beautiful Iris? If I have other light purples (like Lovely Lily pigment for instance), can I skip BI?

Hi again, Karin! I haven't touched Parfait Amour in a while, either. Usually, I'll use it to add a bit of depth if I feel something (in suitable colours) is falling flat (what with the duochromeyness). I'll make a point to use it this week, for you. ;) Beautiful Iris is lovely. Very smooth, with nice payoff. I prefer it to Parfait Amour, for sure! It's quite unlike Lovely Lily - it's a much cooler tone, with the flash of blue. It's not what I'd deem a necessity, but when I finally got it, I did wonder why I never picked it up sooner! So, I'd say that if you're ever pondering a new light purple shadow, consider it. :)
