My Brows' Best Buddy

Filling in my brows is something I do daily. Otherwise, as evidenced in a recent EOTD, they look rather messy and the colour is dull. Ahem. I've tried a number of techniques, and my personal favourite is filling with powder - quick, easy, reliable and gives a soft finish. As such, I need a brush to help me out, right?

Enter, Smashbox #12. Having tried quite a few angle brushes, from dirt cheap to higher end, this is the one that I have found to be the right match for me. As you can see above, mine is well loved (note the fading text on the handle). ;) Just FYI, this glittery-handled brush was a special edition, with the standard version having a red handle and black ferrule.

Here it is shown compared to the MAC 208 - what they call their brow brush. While the 208 would be better for those with very thin or sparse brows, my brows are neither of those things. The #12 brush is comprised of a wooden handle, metal ferrule and stiff bristles which the smashbox website identifies as "Hair: Pami". I have to admit, I have no sweet clue what a pami is, other than a long-dead Pharaoh.

Regardless, this brush rocks! The thicker arrangement of the bristles allows it to grab the brow product of my choice with ease, meaning I really only need to grab product once per brow rather than going back to the pan several times. Hey, when you're in a hurry (aka trying to get to work on time), every bit matters!

The stiffness of the bristles means that it is easy to push product in amongst the brow hairs, and shape everything while you're at it! I'm not interested in using a spoolie or anything else to shape my brow and an angle brush to shade things in - I prefer one tool that cares for all my brow needs, thanks!

In short, I love this brush. It sells for $20USD (not sure on the Canadian price), and I think it is worth every penny. If I could only keep two of the brushes from my entire collection? This would be one! What more can I say?
