From Our Lips: Cosmetosaur Gets Down & Dirty Viva Glam Style

Dude, with two new Viva Glam lipsticks hitting the stores, I couldn't not check them out! Plus, they're lustres, which just so happen to be one of my favourite MAC lipstick formula. If you don't know about MAC's Viva Glam campaign, you need to listen up: through the sale of Viva Glam products, they've raised over $150 million for people living with HIV/AIDS. Some companies may have a product that they give a percentage of the sale price to charity, or maybe even all the profit - but MAC takes this the step further by giving every cent of the sales price. That's something that truly grabs this dino's heart.

This latest campaign has the names of Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga attached to it, each with a shade named after them. These shades will be available for the next year, and I definitely recommend stocking up.

Nice touch having their signatures on the boxes and tubes, right? Right. So, swatches--!

Follow up:

Viva Glam Gaga and Viva Glam Cyndi are both lovely shades, though Cyndi I suspect is more universally wearable. Neither is terribly unique, but they're both pretty. I could be confused, but I believe Cyndi is reminding me of MAC's discontinued lustre shade Eager. And Gaga?

Dudes, look at that! Gaga looks awfully similar to my beloved smashbox Pout. Still, given the nature of the campaign, I felt compelled to pick up Gaga regardless, and goodness knows I'll wear it!

Some MAC lustres have really poor pigmentation and don't show any colour on my lips. Do these ones? Yes!

Man, it's weird staring at closeups of your lips. Still, super pretty shades! Either alone, or as a team:

The two blended together makes a delicious, strong medium pink that is brighter than this picture shows. These lustres have got the formula dead-on perfect if you ask me, since they've got ample pigmentation and aren't so slippery that they slide off in five minutes. And if you're wondering: no, they don't emphasize the lines in your lips, especially from any normal viewing distance.

To sum things up, I'll conclue that even if these weren't for a good cause, I'd say they're lovely lipsticks worth owning. Add the charitable factor in? And I dare say every lipstick wearer should own these lovely tubes.

So what do you think? Loving the colours? Have you bought them yet, or plan to do so?
