UD Stardust Leaves Me Dazzled![]() So, a little while ago, Urban Decay gave us a new shadow formula: stardust. Promising to be super sparkly with no fallout, I can tell you I was sure curious to try them! Well, as you can see, the two purples have found their ways into a dino's domain, and I've spent the past few days playing with them so I can give you my full thoughts. Interested? Follow up: ![]() First up, the packaging is pretty nifty. It's much flatter than UD's other shadow compacts, and you actually need to squeeze the sides to open the compact. Dude! The plastic lid is slightly domed, with Urban Decay printed on one side, and stardust printed on the other side, so it adds dimension (something I find rather fun!). Squeeze - pop! ![]() The two purples are Retrograde, which is the deeper, warmer shade of the two, and 54. Shown above are the two swatched dry. Hella sheer, right? On the bright side, they make an absolutely gorgeous shimmery wash of colour when in a hurry, and 54 layers over other shadows beautifully to add sparkle without heavily mutating the colour. I do have fallout when applying these as I would any old shadow, but if you use your finger to pat them on I imagine that would reduce the fallout problem. Still, though, bit sad that they don't live up to the "no fallout" claim. My other issue is that these don't stay very well unless your base has a bit of stick. Over my bare lid, concealer, anything like that? Just fine! But over a MAC paint or paint pot? Not so hot, dude. So: don't try to use these dry over a dry base. ![]() Oh, ka-pow! Look how much more colour payoff these have when used wet! Staying power is better and fallout is less, too. I really love how these shimmer. The glitter is so microfine that you get the awesome shimmer effect without seeing chunks sitting there on your lids. Yum! At $20USD a pop, these aren't cheap, but you get 3.5 grams of product, which is surely more than I'll use any time soon. If you're digging on the shimmer, I'd recommend grabbing a sheer shade (such as 54, or Space Cowboy) that you can layer over other things for maximum versatility. Unless you're a shimmer junkie, I don't think you need all of them. I'm pretty much good to go, though I'm still jonesing for the teal... Have you tried these yet? If so, what do you think? These shades were provided by PR for consideration. My opinions are my own. None yet :( Leave a comment |
