A Dab Of Drugstore To Hide My Woes

At $12.99CAD regular retail price, CoverGirl and Olay's collaborative concealer from the Simply Ageless line is not the cheapest option you'll come across in the drugstore. It is intended for those pesky undereye circles, and comes in a pot that you can easily use with any tool of your choosing. You may be sceptical about drugstore makeup or CoverGirl in general, but why rule something out before giving it a fair shake?

I chose to try this concealer based on a few factors: CoverGirl makes some paler than average complexion makeup, it was on sale, and Olay makes some damn sexy skincare. Worst case scenario? I saved the receipt and could take it back! I scooped it up and scrambled home to put the pale paste to work.

Follow up:

Let's get straight to the nitty gritty: performance. This concealer is smooth, light weight and creamy. It's easy to blend and doesn't suffocate my skin. I've been using this on my face over acne scarring and not under my eyes as it is labeled for, by the way. It gives light-medium coverage and can be built up some. It's certainly a nicer texture on the skin used over my foundation to hide the acne scars rather than piling on foundation. Lasting power is mediocre; I can put this on in the morning and it usually stays put until evening, with just a bit of fading. If I get particularly sweaty (always awesome!), then this vanishes like a scared little girl.

Be warned: if you slap this on your face and immediately put powder over it, you've pretty much got instant cake. Mmm, cake. Except, not so hot when it comes to your face, y'know? There's a really easy way around this, though: let the concealer dry down and set for a bit before powdering it! I find this lends to better staying power, too, which is always helpful.

Overall, I find this to be a decent concealer. I really like the texture and how easy it is to work with, and I love the fact that there's a colour light enough for me. It doesn't upset my skin and generally gets the job done. I'd be happier if it was a touch more opaque and moisture resistant, but I'll definitely use up the pot I have.

Just wondering why you didn't try it on the undereyes? Of course, it may be a disaster there -- I always get a little sweaty or something there. Yes, I'm old. I have undereye sweat. Going to go shoot myself now. xoxo *jen

*jen, don't go shoot yourself! :p I don't use it under my eyes because, like a freak, I need a darker colour there than the rest of my face. :D
