Welcome to My (Brush) GardenHey all! I've recently undertaken the task of reorganizing my makeup storage. It's gotten a bit wily, you know? The brushes were just in one big container, and I could never find what I wanted, so I found myself a new solution, and thought I'd share! ![]() Holy Haul, Dinosaur!![]() So, I've been AWOL, and I'm really sorry about that. I'm hoping some eye candy will help to soothe you? Here are some pictures of my most recent (beauty related) purchases! If it were my recent purchases in general, you'd be looking at food and beer. Dear Dino![]() Ahoy there! Got questions? Whatever you like, feel free to ask the dino! She'll get back to you on whatever you query of her. I'll make her come answer you for a change instead of doing her bidding. Crazy dinosaur! As for around here, you may notice posts are a bit later than usual today. Well, hey, it happens, because we've all got to sleep some time. Urban Decay 24/7 Shades to Dance For!It's no secret that I find 24/7 pencils from Urban Decay don't work for me - but that doesn't mean I'm not jealous of those they do work for! I absolutely adore a number of the colours, and I'm currently feeling all the more jealous of those for whom these are miracle liners... ![]() Learning that these shades - previously only available as exclusives in the holiday sets - are joining the permanent line in the spring has me turning pretty green. Ever since I first experienced Urban Decay by way of the Ammo and Deluxe shadow boxes, I've been smitten with Mildew shadow. It's just such a pretty green! So, here I am, eyeing Binge, Crash, Oil Slick and especially Mildew, thinking that even though I can only wear these on my top lid, I might just have to get them anyway. How do you feel about 24/7 liners? 5 Memorable Failures of 2009Over the past year, I've tried plenty of new products, good and bad. Here are five let-downs that I wrote to tell you about: 5. Urban Decay 24/7 Liners ![]() After hearing endless praise for these babies, I got my paws on a couple to try out. While they are indeed colour, creamy and mostly lovely - they don't set on my skin. I compared them to MUFE aqua eyes, and it was clear they were not equal. Let down for me! 4. China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat ![]() While I appreciate that this dries polish quickly and has a glossy finish, I'm not so keen on seeing my polish pop off my nails in huge flakes. I adore most China Glaze products, but I consider this to be a fast-forwarded route to flaky failure. 3. Benefit's Bad Gal Blue Mascara ![]() With a huge, unwieldy brush that makes it incredibly difficult to coat the lashes evenly and a formula flakier than French pastry, this mascara is just not for me. 2. Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara ![]() Now, when you see this picture, you totally think, "wow, sexy lashes!", right? Yeah, I don't either. An entree of clumping with side dishes of flaking and smudging, Sexy Curves doesn't seem so sexy to me. What was the number one epic fail of the year for me in the beauty realm? China Glaze Up and AwayI know I'm late to the party, but if you haven't seen these yet, you need to take a look! ![]() CHINA GLAZE TAKES YOUR MOOD TO HELIUM HEIGHTS Los Angeles, CA − December 2009 − China Glaze®, the nail lacquer collection with celebrity fans such as Rihanna, Nicole Kidman and Rosario Dawson launches twelve, new polishes that are uplifting and spirit-boosting…introducing the Up & Away Collection. I'm sorry I don't have swatches for you, but there are some yummy ones out there if you look! NARS Spring 2010NARS spring 2010 seems to have Amber Valletta as its face. See? ![]() To see product images and shade names, keep on! Can't Stop Ogling smashbox's HeartbreakerIt's hardly a secret that I love me some smashbox. As such, when I found images for their spring collection here about a week ago, I was pretty happy! I've been staring at them since. I was hoping to get in touch with someone I know for a translation of the text, but since that hasn't happened, let me at least point out the images for you! ![]() Colour Me CrankyYou know what I really hate? When someone asks what I want and then ignores it. What I hate more than that? When I have to pay for it. I went for a cut and colour tonight. Asked to keep as much length as possible, and yet several inches came off. Furthermore, I asked for a bright, fiery red. What did I get? Project Purple RoundupLet's review Project Purple so far, shall we? Lilac Lipstick: The Key to Looking Asphyxiated From here, I think we'll take a bit of a purple look. At most, I'll throw a purple look or two at you. If you want to skip all those links and just ogle all the swatches again, I've put them in one big ol' mega post below the cut! |
