Beauty - Not Just for People!

I'm having a real itch to redecorate lately. I'm in love with this bed:

sexy bed

for example! As such, this has spurred me to start running around my apartment on a bit of a purge. I thought I'd start small, so I went to the smallest room I have: the bathroom.

This room is definitely loaded with crap, as I have plenty of rejected shampoos, conditioners, skincare, lotions... it just goes on and on. I've tossed stuff I'll never use again, combined packages of the same items (why did I have four boxes of bandages!?) and reorganized. WOO! I can actually now open my medicine cabinet and storage cabinet in there and SEE WHAT I HAVE. Crazy idea, but it also ought to help out my skin - I couldn't for the life of me find some of my masques and treatments before.

If you're wondering what the hell throwing stuff out has to do with beauty and redecorating, think about it: how much can you do if there's simply too much stuff in the way? Would it make any difference? In fact, if your home is overly cluttered, clearing some of that away will in itself change the look of the place!

After a while of having things around me be in chaos, I feel kind of silly spending a bunch of time playing with things on my face and body. Environment is important, too! Anyone with me?

What's With All the MAC?

You've probably noticed by now we have plenty o' MAC round these parts. The question is, then, why? Are we insane brand-loyal fiends out for the name? Can't be arsed to try anything else?

Well, I can speak for myself, and I'm here to do so.

I own a LOT of makeup. And yes, the vast majority of it is MAC. This is for a few reasons. First, it's the first non-drugstore makeup I was introduced to. This made it the first makeup I knew that actually, well, worked. Prior to that, I found the makeup I'd tried to lack pigmentation or blendability or... actual practical use. It made me see the light of makeup, that it could be a joy.

Origins Recycling Program

So, some of you may already know about this and some may not. I, for one, am a fan of recycling in general and have been for quite some time. I believe it is both important and valuable. As such, I want to point a finger at Origins and applaud their new recycling program. As per their website:

did you know?

• Everyday consumer product packaging accounts for approximately 1/3 of all landfill waste.
• Most community recyclers only take items made from materials that are easily recognized - such as soda and water bottles.
• Cosmetic and toiletry bottles, tubes, caps and jars are among those items not easily recognized and therefore not often recycled.

Sadly, though, this isn't valid with any other promotion, including their Let's Do Lunch which I'm a big fan of.

High heels are sexy, right?

So, sometimes when one gets bored, one surfs youtube. I love things which are entertaining (who doesn't?), but all the more I love things that are simultaneously amusing and informative. As such, I present the following!:

I absolutely love the model demonstrating things. I have to admit, though, part of why this is so funny to me is because I've seen all three on the streets and whatnot as women walk by. I do believe the thigh-grippers are my favourite, or a combo of the "techniques".

Honestly, if you are having trouble walking in heels, choose a different pair! Not everyone can instinctively walk in high heels. Generally, I think one is best off to start with a lower heel, and having something that straps securely to the foot will makes things a LOT easier, too. I personally love heels with ankle straps, as they make sure the shoe isn't going to run away! Plus, then you don't have to do the weird toe-gripping thing that you are probably familiar with if you've ever worn flipflops. Additionally, smaller strides are definitely key. Trying to take huge strides while up on these fussy little shoes is not going to look cute, nuh-uh.

I sadly have a weakness for 4+ inch heels. Other than that, I'm probably in something flat. What!? Where'd the middle-ground go?!!?? Someone else's house, apparently...

All right. End ramble. ;)

Ahoy there!

Hey! How goes it?

You may be wondering, "what the hell is this!?" It's (yet another) blog that loves its makeup and beauty-related things. Yes, there are fifty bajillion of those already, but we think this one will be a wee bit different than the average. Why? Well, for one thing, we are. You may want to consider rolling on over to our info page and giving that a quick read, as that's pretty much intended as a quick introduction to this joint.

We're looking pretty naked to start, but what site doesn't? We've definitely got some big things in mind, but these things take a little time. What can you expect to see? Standard things like FOTDs, colour stories, swatches, reviews, etc... with a dino twist. Furthermore, we've already got some less standard ideas and spins on the classics going on in the background. For now, you can definitely read a bit more about the regular contributors (yes, there will be some not-so-regular ones, too) to get more of a feel for us.

We'd love to hear from you with your initial thoughts, too!

Cheers. :)
