So, I've been AWOL, and I'm really sorry about that. I'm hoping some eye candy will help to soothe you? Here are some pictures of my most recent (beauty related) purchases! If it were my recent purchases in general, you'd be looking at food and beer. ;)

NOTD: China Glaze Midnight Ride

16/01/10, Permalink 11:00:00 am, by Sanayhs, Categories: Nails

I'd like you to meet the shade that was my very first China Glaze polish: Midnight Ride. A deep, dark blackened purple that shimmers when the light catches it. In low light, it can be mistaken for a shade of black. It's a bit of a beast to try to capture to my satisfaction, but here's what I've got for you:

I find application of this deliciously smooth and even, and the polish is pleasantly pigmented. Two coats makes for a rich opacity, but one thick coat could suffice in a hurry. As with all my China Glaze polishes, it wears well. I come back to this shade again and again, for it offers the deep vampy appeal of a black, yet the purple gives it extra life (and looks better against my skin - score!). So much love, dudes. So much love.

NOTD: China Glaze Ginger

14/01/10, Permalink 11:00:00 am, by Sanayhs, Categories: Nails

I have been pretty much obsessed with this polish since it found its way into my claws (and onto my toes!) on Christmas eve. It's a pigmented coppery shade packed with small silver glitter and larger round pieces of holographic glitter. It applies beautifully, and looks better! China Glaze's Ginger sparkles so much that my toenails were shimmering through black tights over the holidays!

And now, as you can see, it's made its way up in the world - to my fingers. I can't stop staring at this polish. I could see this used in a single coat for a quick lick of colour, and having no problems with that. I've used two for more intensity. Another thing to note is that the lower the lighting, the deeper and richer the shade of copper seems. This has very quickly become my favourite copper polish. Hurray! :D

NOTD: China Glaze Blue Paradise

Oh, Blue Paradise. I have such mixed feelings toward you. On the one hand, you're a lovely medium shimmery blue. On the other hand, your formula is rather disappointing.

NOTD: China Glaze Meteor Shower

05/01/10, Permalink 11:00:00 am, by Sanayhs, Categories: Nails

Oooh, more glitter!? HELL YES. I've been all over the glitters for my nails lately, and this one is another goody. A dark navy with, again, multi-coloured glitter in different shapes and sizes? Dudes, what's not to love! Come to think of it, I need to try layering this over Illamasqua Phallic, one of my favourite polishes. Mmmm.

Oh, I'm sorry, am I teasing you? You don't just want to see the bottle? Well, alright -

NOTD: China Glaze Preppy Pink

03/01/10, Permalink 11:00:00 am, by Sanayhs, Categories: Nails

Now, let me start by saying that I am totally not a pretty-in-pink kind of girl. I much prefer dark and dramatic. That being said: this polish is so pretty! It's so... cheerful looking. The different colours and shapes of glitter make it shimmer happily in any lighting. Unfortunately, I do it no justice in this picture since it's in artificial light - I'd need some of that sunlight stuff I haven't seen in eons to really show it off, I believe. This is three coats with base and top coat.

I normally prefer polishes that are opaque in two coats, but in this case I love the hint of sheerness as it makes it absolutely wonderful layering (as I demonstrated in my NYE manicure!). With the three coats here, I have a hint of visible nail line, but nothing obnoxious. This is certainly quite wearable like this!

Also worth noting is that the NYE manicure came off easily - no fighting forever with the glitter, huzzah! I have yet to determine how hard it is to remove when it is used as the sole colour. I'll have to report back with that when I switch it up to something else. ;)

So, what do you think?

This product was provided as a sample by PR for consideration. My opinions are still my own.

NOTD: New Year's Eve Nails

01/01/10, Permalink 06:50:32 am, by Sanayhs, Categories: Nails

I've long had a love affair with China Glaze's Midnight Ride - a deep, dark blackened purple that is smooth and pigmented. For New Year's Eve, however, I decided to kick it up a bit, with the help of one of the China Glaze glitters!

Mac Polish in Cool Reserve

cool reserve

Here is Cool Reserve, one of the six new polishes Mac is offering in there new collection with Jin Soon Choi. At first I didn't want to buy this one thinking it looked a lot like Love and Friendship but it's so different. I'm happy my MA convinced me I needed this one. I love grey nails and this one is perfect for fall with just a hint of lavender. All the new polishes are a cream formula and it goes on really well. This was 3 coats but with my new love Seche Vite it took nearly half the time to do my nails. I have no clue what half the ingredients are in Seche Vite but as long as I don't inhale it or drink it I should be fine.

Sephora by OPI, Mermaid In the Shade Collection

24/07/09, Permalink 12:55:46 am, by Ally, Categories: Swatches, Reviews

Sephora launched a beautiful collection of nail polishes inspired by the mediterranean island of Capri this spring and my boyfriend picked me up 2 colors while he was in New York. He bought me Mermaid to Order which is a gorgeous shimmering deep green blue and Underwater Fantasy which is described as shimmering light cornflower blue.

Hopefully no one is grossed out by feet because my first swatch is on my toes. Though i'm told my feet are adorable.

This color is awesome I love the sheen and shimmer. I remember seeing it advertised and e-mailing my boyfriend to pick me up this color before any other. So not disapointed. I wore it through out my whole vacation and it only started to chip at the end. This is 2 coats on my toes.
