Fast Forward to Flaky Failure

Today, we're going to talk about a top coat. Specifically, China Glaze's Fast Forward quick drying topcoat.

It truly does speed up drying time significantly, and it leaves a nice, glossy finish. Plus, China Glaze is definitely an affordable brand!

However, my kind words toward this product stop there.

A Purple Pout for Pennies!

Look! Purple lips! Sorry about the couple of flakies. :p This, unlike the last purple lip product featured, is a warmer purple and as such much easier to wear.

What is it, you say?

Star Makeup Haven Swatches

Well i've been living under a rock for the last few weeks, I guess depression can do that to you. Anyway i'm a little better and want to post about this new brand of makeup I ordered off the net. I love to support little companies and try new products. The site is Star Makeup Haven. They have cheap eyeshadow that is comparable to Mac and other brands. Same size pan and each shadow is only $4.95us. They let you build a customizable palette, which I did. The shipping was decent and I would order from them again. But after getting 15 shadows for around $50us i'm good for now.

Lilac Lipstick: The Key to Looking Asphyxiated

Yes, I am addicted to purple makeup. There is a shade to make essentially every eye colour pop, and it also works nicely with my cool skin and the red in my hair. Plus, it's just hella pretty! :D

Curiousity got the best of me when I was looking at Star Gazer lipsticks the other day (and all the unusual shades available!), so I decided to order one to try out. I picked the shade 115, a creamy lilac, for my test run purposes, as I figured it's not quite the ordinary, but it's also something I'd actually wear.

Little did I realise quite how blue this sucker is!

Kat Von D Beethoven Palette

I like this palette, I have to say. It has a pretty variety of shades in different finishes, and they all have decent colour payoff. I like colour payoff! And I LOVE a decent palette! Whilst the shades are not ZOMG UNIQUE, they are all quite nice and usable, and the 8 of them give many options for combinations. They apply smoothly and I have no troubles blending them, which is always a plus.

My primary concern with these is that unless you use a strong base, the colours can fade and bleed together a bit after a few hours - but this is certainly something you can likely avoid by playing with different shadow bases. For the $34 price tag, I think this palette is well worth the money and certainly a decent purchase. Unlike some of the other Kat Von D palettes, all of these shadows are powder. Also, if you're a fan of using included brushes with a palette, you should note that this plan won't work here - the brushes are utter crap, and are more something I'd expect to find in a lip palette.

So, in short, use your own brushes and a strong base, and you'll likely be decently please (especially if you wait til Sephora has a sale!). Swatches, of course, are under the cut. ;)
