A Dab Of Drugstore To Hide My Woes

At $12.99CAD regular retail price, CoverGirl and Olay's collaborative concealer from the Simply Ageless line is not the cheapest option you'll come across in the drugstore. It is intended for those pesky undereye circles, and comes in a pot that you can easily use with any tool of your choosing. You may be sceptical about drugstore makeup or CoverGirl in general, but why rule something out before giving it a fair shake?

I chose to try this concealer based on a few factors: CoverGirl makes some paler than average complexion makeup, it was on sale, and Olay makes some damn sexy skincare. Worst case scenario? I saved the receipt and could take it back! I scooped it up and scrambled home to put the pale paste to work.

Let's get scrubby with it! Today I've got Firefly on dvd playing while I write this, but you probably aren't concerned about that. Can I just say that I frigging love that show and most of its cast? Srsly, though. On the other hand, I have this product from Peter Lamas to poke at. It's meant for your face! To make it smoother! Check it out:

Summer Lovin' With Summer Rose

07/04/10, Permalink 10:34:52 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Reviews

As if the Liberty of London packaging on this compact of MAC's Summer Rose beauty party weren't enough to sell me on it, the purple tones would do me in. We first saw this shade last spring with the A Rose Romance collection, except it was awkwardly sculpted to look like a "rose"; as a rose, she was pretty in the pan, but super tricky to get colour from! This time?

How XTREME Can an X-Ceptional Foundation Be?

05/04/10, Permalink 10:12:29 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Reviews

Today for your viewing pleasure, I present: GOSH's X-Ceptional Wear foundation. As you can see, it claims to be long wearing and light reflecting. Around these parts, GOSH is a pricier brand found in the drug store, and this particular product will set you back around $20 (or less if you get it on sale like I did!). When some brands cite a shade as Porcelain in the drugstore, my general experience is that they're what porcelain would look like if you buried it in your pot plant's dirt for a while. Not so here! As such, I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Gettin' Glossy with Bobbi Brown

02/04/10, Permalink 04:17:09 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Reviews

She-zam! Alright, so, this isn't the most exciting return, but I'm at work trying not to cough on people, and I've got these pictures already online to go with my words... I love pictures! Let's do it up and talk about some lip glossing action from Bobbi Brown, shall we?

I have Bobbi's Crystal gloss and the Sheer Tint SPF 15 gloss in Bare Shimmer. Oooh, look at 'em! Look familiar? I did post a lip swatch of Bare Shimmer approximately fifty trillion years ago, and that can be found here. These glosses represent two different formulae; want to know my thoughts on each?

Sometimes my skin gets a touch thirsty below the neck, yo. Especially my lower legs and elbows. Yeesh! So, why not butter them up?

Say hello to the body shop's body butter in Satsuma. She and I have been buds lately.

Lustin' for the Heat

Oooh, look, pretty glosses! I found a couple of Urban Decay's Ultraglide lipglosses at my local Winner's recently for super cheap. How could I resist? They shimmer and sparkle and offer good pigmentation. I don't love the long, skinny tubes, but I appreciate that they are cleanable squeezy tubes! The texture is a bit thick, but it means it wears for a decent length of time. Hey, works for me!

Concealer In A Jar

22/02/10, Permalink 08:32:24 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Reviews

Heyyyy! Let's talk about concealer, yo: I like it pigmented, blendable and plentiful. Affordable helps, too. All the better is if it actually matches my skin, but I don't really expect that from many lines. :p I'd read some good things about NYX Concealer in a Jar and have been giving it a whirl in the palest shade, Porcelene.

How does it fare?

UD Stardust Leaves Me Dazzled

So, a little while ago, Urban Decay gave us a new shadow formula: stardust. Promising to be super sparkly with no fallout, I can tell you I was sure curious to try them! Well, as you can see, the two purples have found their ways into a dino's domain, and I've spent the past few days playing with them so I can give you my full thoughts.

From Our Lips: Cosmetosaur Gets Down & Dirty Viva Glam Style

12/02/10, Permalink 08:08:49 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Swatches, Pretties, Reviews, Recommendations

Dude, with two new Viva Glam lipsticks hitting the stores, I couldn't not check them out! Plus, they're lustres, which just so happen to be one of my favourite MAC lipstick formula. If you don't know about MAC's Viva Glam campaign, you need to listen up: through the sale of Viva Glam products, they've raised over $150 million for people living with HIV/AIDS. Some companies may have a product that they give a percentage of the sale price to charity, or maybe even all the profit - but MAC takes this the step further by giving every cent of the sales price. That's something that truly grabs this dino's heart.

This latest campaign has the names of Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga attached to it, each with a shade named after them. These shades will be available for the next year, and I definitely recommend stocking up.

Nice touch having their signatures on the boxes and tubes, right? Right. So, swatches--!
