MAC Pigment Swatches - Part 1

30/09/09, Permalink 09:16:01 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Swatches

You didn't think I was done showing you pigments, did you? Here's part one of the swatchfest. I haven't swatched everything at my disposal yet, because I got bored. Top row is dry, bottom row is applied wet. Some I swatched today I need to redo, because the picture suck. Some of these, unfortunately, miss the nuances of the shade, but this should help show what they look like anyway. :D No base, 239s for swatching, most in natural shade, a few with flash to better convey the colours.

Primary Yellow, Golden Lemon, Gold (metal), Gold Dusk
Gold is super close in colour to the richmetal pigment Vintage Gold, hey? Yeah. Anyhow. I have to say, using matte pigments wet reminds me of watercolour paint cakes.

MUFE Eyeshadow Swatches

29/07/09, Permalink 04:14:45 pm, by Ally, Categories: Swatches

I knew that I wanted to finally get my hands on this brand for awhile but we don't have anyone that sells it where I live so I had to wait till we took a vacation to visit his family in Quebec. So when our summer vacation came up I made a list of wants from MUFE and on that long and extensive list there was these 5 shadows. I'm sure you all heard of the Makeup Forever number 92 (matte brilliant purple)...Well it is even better then people say it is. It's my new favorite purple. And trust me if you love purple and you don't have the 92, then your collection is not complete.

I also couldn't wait to get my hands on the 75 (bright fuschia pink), I can't get enough of bright pinks and this one totally delivers. I don't own anything close to 5 (matte vibrant coral) this one is such a unique color. I was also searching for a matte yellow and a matte red and found the 2 (matte brilliant yellow) and the 158 (Matte Cold Red). Both are so pigemented like the others, I'm in eyeshadow heaven with my tiny collection of MUFE. Trust me it will grow quickly. Now on to the swatches.

Kat Von D Beethoven Palette

06/20/09, Permalink 11:33:28 pm, by Cosmetosaur, Categories: Swatches, Reviews

I like this palette, I have to say. It has a pretty variety of shades in different finishes, and they all have decent colour payoff. I like colour payoff! And I LOVE a decent palette! Whilst the shades are not ZOMG UNIQUE, they are all quite nice and usable, and the 8 of them give many options for combinations. They apply smoothly and I have no troubles blending them, which is always a plus.

My primary concern with these is that unless you use a strong base, the colours can fade and bleed together a bit after a few hours - but this is certainly something you can likely avoid by playing with different shadow bases. For the $34 price tag, I think this palette is well worth the money and certainly a decent purchase. Unlike some of the other Kat Von D palettes, all of these shadows are powder. Also, if you're a fan of using included brushes with a palette, you should note that this plan won't work here - the brushes are utter crap, and are more something I'd expect to find in a lip palette.

So, in short, use your own brushes and a strong base, and you'll likely be decently please (especially if you wait til Sephora has a sale!). Swatches, of course, are under the cut. ;)

Holy Yellows, Dude!

31/05/09, Permalink 10:30:15 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Swatches

As of late, you may find yourself wondering, "Where are all these yellow eyeshadows coming from? How the hell do they compare to each other?" Well, I'm here to show you a few of my beloveds. I'm completely infatuated with yellow shadows, by the way. There are no pigments included here, only MAC, and no golds. I left out some of the paler ones, too, because it's night time and they'd be hard to capture. :p

Of these? I'll say my favourites are the ones I use most - Bright Sunshine and Going Bananas. Honestly, though, I love all of these!

Bright Future, Bright Sunshine, Chrome Yellow
Going Bananas, Crest the Wave, Excitable Yellow

This is without flash, check under the cut for the same swatches captured with flash!

GOSH Art Eyeliners

11/05/09, Permalink 10:37:37 pm, by Sanayhs, Categories: Swatches

Swatch party, yo. Yes, there's more crap swatched on my arms on the outer edges, but you're just going to have to ignore that and focus on the middle stuff. My personal favourites are the yellow, orange and black - the black is deliciously matte and dark on my skin, and all the rest have a sheen. They're pretty budge-proof and are oft compared to MAC liquidlast liners, as they have a similar tube and finish. On my screen, the colours compare rather accurately to what is on my arm. If anything, a couple are a touch brighter in person.
